My name is Alex Hervas and I have worked in IT for over ten years now. Currently I’m a Systems Engineer at a mid sized firm. My primary responsibility at the moment is working with network security, specifically Cisco firewalls and VPN. All that could change at any moment though. I also have a thorough knowledge of Windows systems, including Server 2008 and Exchange 2003. For fun I run Linux at home, specifically Ubuntu and I may get a Mac when finances allow (yes I think Apple overprices their products). I believe in God but when it comes to operating systems, I am an agnostic. I like them all but I can’t acknowledge one is better than the other.
I started this blog to help me remember all the tasks performed at my job. Since I am a “Jack of All IT Trades” it becomes difficult to recall what I did six months ago to resolve an issue. By recording most everything I do, it’s possible to have a portable, easily accessible knowledge base. Besides, my brain is running out of hard drive space. I’m sure there are a lot of IT guys and gals that can relate. So this is a selfish endeavor, but this site will help others as more information is added to it.
